Welcome to Shelby, Montana. It is also known as Americas western crossroads. Shelby population is over 3000 residents. It is a gateway to Glacier National Park and near the Canada border.
Shelby, Montana is located in north central Montana and is the seat of Toole County. It is located approximately 30 miles south of the Canadian border and about 80 miles east of Glacier National Park. It is called America’s Western Crossroads because the Burlington Northern Santa Fe east-west main line tracks pass through Shelby linking Chicago to Seattle traveling parallel with US Highway 2 and Interstate I-15.
Shelby’s population is just over 3,000 people. Oil was discovered there is 1922. It is home to the World Heavyweight Title Dempsey-Gibbons fight that took place there July 4, 1923. There is a committee of individuals that are currently trying to raise money to erect bronze statues and a memorial park for tourists.
